Education in City of Glendale

Education is an important part of every man’s life, and if you decide to continue your education after finished high school our city of Glendale has to offer number of great higher education campuses and facilities. Among them are Glendale Community College and Glendale Community College North, who are just across the border in northwestern Phoenix and are members of the Maricopa County Community College District. Furthermore, Arizona State University has its Thunderbird School of Global Management, a major post-graduate international business school, is situated in Glendale and its West campus just across the borderline from Glendale in west Phoenix. And of course there is Midwestern University, metropolitan Phoenix’s first medical school located in Glendale.

Let’s say a few words about Midwestern University. MWU is an American non profit graduate and professional school which specializes in health science education. Established back in 1900 as the American College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery and it is the fourth oldest medical school that is still currently active in the state of Illinois, although native to Illinois back in 1995, it opened an extra campus in Glendale, Arizona. From initially only providing medical education today are operating ten colleges like pharmacy, podiatric medicine, optometry and other health professions each of them offering a degree in their respective field. The Glendale campus offers state of the art facilities, like practice labs, lecture halls and classrooms, a library and outpatient clinic. Currently Glendale campus is home to more than 2900 students.

Another school worth mentioning is Thunderbird School of Global Management, which become part of Arizona State University in 2015. Thunderbird is a management school located in Glendale that offers bachelor’s and master’s degree as well as executive education programs in global management. Main campus building is situated in Glendale at Thunderbird Field, a no longer in use military airfield from which it derives its name. Thunderbird was founded back in 1946, independently by Lieutenant General Barton Kyle Yount, who after ending his military career was in charge of American Institute for Foreign Trade and after purchasing Thunderbird Field he founded a school which to date is the oldest and largest graduate school in the United States that mainly focuses on preparing international business leaders. Currently there are more than 1000 students enrolled and most of them come from places outside the United States.

Last but not least on our list is Glendale Community College. It is a community college founded in 1965. in Glendale Arizona. Community college includes programs like associate degree, industry specific training, certificate program and university transfer. Glendale Community College is part of Maricopa County Community College District and one the largest college districts in the United States. As Glendale communities have developed college expanded their existing facilities and has built new ones, as well expanding their programs. At the moment there are more than 19 000 students enrolled in one of many Glendale Community College programs.
